‘The Overtuin’ Food Forest is a natural oasis in the middle of Rotterdam. Part of Trompenburg Tuinen & Arboretum, this food forest is designed and managed by Coöperatie Ondergrond. Through this collaboration, the rich botanical knowledge of Trompenburg is coupled with the innovative food forest concept.

Tom Lovett – Forest Gardener and Storyteller – is one of the caretakers of the Overtuin food forest. He manages and maintains the forests, caring for and harvesting from the plants. Tom will take you on a tour of the Overtuin Food Forest. You will learn about the principles, history and potential of food forests while coming into contact with this unique food forest location.

This tour is in English. Tom understands Dutch and is able to answer questions in Dutch if needed.
The tour lasts about an hour and afterwards there’s room for questions and answers.

Voedselbos De Overtuin is een natuurlijke oase in het centrum van Rotterdam. Het is een onderdeel van Trompenburg, dat mede beheert wordt door Coöperatie Ondergrond. Door deze samenwerking is de rijke botanische kennis van Trompenburg gebundeld met de innovatieve voedselbos kennis van Ondergrond.

Wat is een voedselbos?
Wat voor soort planten groeien daar?
En wat voor rol kan een voedselbos hebben in onze toekomst?

Tom Lovett – bostuinman en verhalenverteller – is één van de beheerders van De Overtuin. Hij controleert, onderhoud, zorg voor de planten en de oogst. Tom neemt je tijdens deze rondleiding mee op pad en zal alles vertellen over het principe achter een voedselbos, de geschiedenis en de potentie. 

Deze rondleiding is in het Engels. Tom verstaat Nederlands en kan het gedeeltelijk spreken. Vragen kunnen dus in het Nederlands.
De tour duurt ongeveer een uur en er is daarna nog een kwartier ruimte voor vragen en discussie.
